Lethbridge wins CASCAR PowerWater Sportsman race at Barrie
BARRIE, ON - Ron Lethbridge of Barrie, ON thrilled his hometown fans on
Saturday night at Barrie Speedway by winning the 100-lap CASCAR PowerWater
Sportsman Series race. The Fuel Genie Dodge driver started on the outside
of the front row and quickly moved to the head of the 23-car field.
Lethbridge, a rookie competitor on CASCAR's Sportsman Series,
passed polesitter Brad Graham on the first lap and led the way for the
remainder of the race, which was slowed by four cautions for a total of 24
laps.
Defending PowerWater Series champ Graham (HB Material Handling
Dodge) chased Lethbridge for the entire race distance, but the Glencoe, ON
racer could not recover the top spot. The final podium position went to
Dion Verhoeven of Kerwood, ON in his McRobert Fuels Pontiac.
The Canada Day Northern 500 Race Weekend at Barrie Speedway
continues on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Dodge Charger 300
presented by the Dodge Dealers of Ontario; the fourth race of the CASCAR
Super Series season. Mt. Albert, ON racer Kerry Micks will start on the
pole on Sunday afternoon in his PowerWater Ford, alongside of Super Series
points leader Don Thomson Jr. in his Home Hardware Chevy.
