Remote Area Medical #7 GTO Lime Rock Qualifying Report
Osborn Qualifies 19th for World Challenge New England GT Grand Prix
Lakeville, Conn. – July 1, 2005 In only his second World Challenge
GT race, Jim Osborn drove the #7 Remote Area Medical GTO to a 19th
place starting spot for Saturday’s SPEED World Challenge GT race at
Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut.
“This just keeps getting better,” said a smiling Osborn. “I’m just
going to take it one step at a time and make our way up-to-speed,
but, man this is fun! These cars just perform with such authority…
it’s easy to see how all that power can go to your head."
“Driving this track in a GT car is a lot different than in a Touring
Car,” Osborn observed. “The GT cars get off the corners so fast, and
are bullets down the front straight. You really need to keep the pace
or you’re going to get run over. I like it though…. and the car is
definitely up to it. I’m going to get together with Stu (Hayner)
later and get some feedback on our run. I think we’re going to have a
great race”
In off track activities, Osborn, with his endless dedication to
seriously ill children and their families, will take time out to
visit and have dinner with kids at Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall
camp. To date, nearly 100,000 seriously ill children from throughout
the United States and 31 countries have attended Hole in the Wall
Camps free of charge. They are a not-for-profit organization totally
supported by charitable contributions. Hole in the Wall Camps are the
dream of actor Paul Newman, who started the first camp in 1988 and
has been the driving force ever since. Osborn and his Chili Pepper
Racing team have campaigned with the slogan ‘Racing for the Health of
it’ supporting the T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital and raising
funds for the Lighthouse Family Retreat.
The Speed World Challenge New England Grand Prix is scheduled for
Saturday. The SPEED GT race will run on Saturday at 12:40pm and the
Touring Car race at 4:10pm. The Touring Car race will air Sunday at
4pm followed by the GT race at 5pm, both on SPEED.
