Hayner on a tear… qualifies 6th for New England Grand Prix
Lakeville, Conn – July 1, 2005 Stu Hayner, in the #5 GMAC Commercial
Finance / Trenton Forging GTO, turned a :54.742 second lap around
historic Lime Rock Park today and earned a 6th place starting spot
for the SPEED World Challenge New England GT Grand Prix. The SPEED
World Challenge Series is running as part of the ALMS New England
Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, in Connecticut.
Fresh off is 5th place finish at the Grand Prix of Cleveland, Hayner
gave credit to his team.
“These guys just keep turning out a great racecar,” said Hayner. “We
could still use a little more power, but the handling is really
coming around. The guys seem to be hitting a groove where we’re
rolling the car off the trailer and having our setups pretty close.”
“Lime Rock is such a great place,” Hayner continued. “This is a good
qualifying time and I’m comfortable knowing it’s a time we can run
consistently. We’re going to need a good start and then hope those
guys behind us give each other a hard time. This is really a quick
field.”
The SPEED GT race will run on Saturday at 12:40pm and the Touring Car
race at 4:10pm. The Touring Car race will air Sunday at 4pm followed
by the GT race at 5pm, both on SPEED.
