Gigliotti Fastest Leading Into Lime Rock SPEED GT Qualifying



 

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (July 1, 2005) - Three-time Champion Lou Gigliotti, of Dallas, Texas, was fastest in SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT practice Friday at Lime Rock Park leading into this afternoon's qualifying for Saturday's Round Six race, part of the New England Grand Prix.

 

Driving the No. 28 LG Pro Long Tube Headers Chevrolet Corvette C6, Gigliotti navigated the 1.53-mile circuit in 54.495 seconds (101.073 mph), topping the 25-car field over the two 20-minute practice sessions. Gigliotti is a former winner at Lime Rock Park, and is looking for his first series pole in nearly 20 races.

 

Max Angelelli, who finished second last week at Cleveland in the No. 12 Team Cadillac/XM Radio/Mobil 1/Motorola/Bose Cadillac CTS-V, was second fastest with a time of 54.710 seconds (100.676 mph), followed by teammate Max Papis with a 54.898 second lap (100.331 mph).

 

Wolf Henzler was third for Danbury-based Farnbacher Loles Racing in the No. 55 Applied Materials Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with a 0:54.985 (100.172 mph), followed by point leader Andy Pilgrim's No. 8 Team Cadillac/XM Radio/Mobil 1/Motorola/Bose Cadillac CTS-V, with a 55.040-second, 100.072 mph lap.

 

Qualifying for Saturday's race is scheduled for this afternoon at 4:20 p.m. (EDT). Live timing and scoring for all sessions is available via www.world-challenge.com
