Acura Sets Sales Record for June 2005

RL, TSX, and MDX Post Records

TORRANCE, Calif., July 1 -- Acura posted record June sales and its third best month ever with sales of 18,744 vehicles, surpassing the previous mark of 16,182 set in 2004 and up 11.4 percent versus last year based on the daily selling rate. Acura year-to-date sales of 104,945 rose 9.2 percent versus 2004.

The RL luxury performance sedan set a new monthly sales record, up 235.9 percent compared to 2004. RL sales of 1,565 units exceeded the previous June record of 1,538 set in 1998. The TSX sports sedan also set a new June record with sales of 3,085, surpassing the previous record of 2,765 set last year. Year-to-date TSX sales reached 17,772 units, up 21.3 percent compared to last year.

"Acura is having the hottest summer in its history," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, auto sales. "The strength our product lineup is reflected in 20 consecutive months of record sales."

Continued strong demand for the MDX luxury SUV helped boost sales to 5,797 for the month, setting a new July record and posting its second best sales month ever. Year-to-date sales of the MDX reached 29,298, up 4.0 percent compared to 2004.

Monthly percentages are based on 26 selling days for this month versus 25 days for last June.
