Safelite Helps NFL Alumni Raise $50,000 for Central Ohio Youth

COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 29 -- Safelite AutoGlass, a subsidiary of Safelite Group, recently served as the presenting sponsor of the 19th Annual NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic. The event, which was held on June 20 at Doubletree Golf Club in Galena, Ohio, raised $50,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus and the Buckeye Ranch. This was Safelite's fifth consecutive year as a presenting sponsor of the annual golf outing, which has raised more than $175,000 for Central Ohio children since 2001.

"Safelite AutoGlass has been a driving force for the NFL Alumni Columbus Chapter with their involvement in our annual golf tournament," said Tom Skladany, Central Ohio NFL Alumni Golf Tournament Chairman. "Because of their commitment to support the children of Columbus through this event, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus and the Buckeye Ranch have received needed monies to help sustain their programs and to teach the children of Columbus about life skills. Because of Safelite AutoGlass, the children of Columbus will be better prepared to enter the work force in the future."

In all, 25 NFL alumni teamed up with amateur golfers during the outing, which was won by the team captained by Bob Atha, a former place-kicker for The Ohio State University (OSU) and the Miami Dolphins. Atha and his team won an expenses paid trip to the 2006 Super Bowl of Golf, to be played in April 2006 at the Maui Prince Resort in Hawaii.

The tournament featured former NFL players such as Tom Skladany, Archie Griffin and Doug Dieken. Skladany, a three-time All-American punter and kicker for OSU, played professionally for the Detroit Lions. Griffin, also a former OSU player and two-time Heisman trophy winner, played running back for the Cincinnati Bengals. Dieken was an offensive lineman for the Cleveland Browns.

"Safelite supports the NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic because of the value it provides to organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Buckeye Ranch," said Randy Randolph, Safelite Vice President of Real Estate and Field Market Development. "We appreciate the dedication of these organizations to offering positive messages and role models for our community's youth."

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus operate community-based facilities with youth programs including leadership groups, athletic teams and tutoring, which are designed to help boys and girls realize their potential as productive, responsible and caring adults. More than 1,500 children benefit from the Central Ohio clubs every year. The Buckeye Ranch offers hope to countless children and their families who are struggling with emotional, behavioral and mental health issues. Every day more than 1,100 children and families benefit from the Ranch's many programs and treatment services.
