Enterprise Jet Center Acquires FAA Repair Station Certification
HOUSTON, June 28 -- Enterprise Jet Center at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston has acquired a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Repair Station certificate. The certification covers the maintenance of aircraft operating under 14 CFR parts 91 (general and corporate), 121 (scheduled air carriers), 125 (large private aircraft) and 135 (on demand charter).
In making the announcement, Loyd Turner, president of Enterprise Jet Center, said the FAA repair station certification was an important step in the FBO's growth plans.
Enterprise is building a 300,000-square foot facility, which includes an 85,000-square foot hangar with a dedicated maintenance shop and tail clearance up to Global Express. The new hangar and office complex is expected to open in early 2006.
"To be a successful FBO today you have to offer aircraft operators a first-class facility and accommodations with superior maintenance and repair services. The higher standards for procedures, and accountability for parts and service records associated with the operation of a FAA approved repair station, will ultimately bring more aircraft our way," said Turner.
Under FAA repair station management guidelines, Turner is the Accountable Manager. Mike Bedwell, a 41-year veteran of aviation maintenance and management, is Director of Maintenance. Mike Boegler, Chief Inspector, has 15 years of experience in charter and private aviation aircraft maintenance and management. He holds an inspector authorization license with the FAA and an associate degree in aircraft maintenance management.
Enterprise expects about 99 percent of its maintenance and repair business to come from general aviation and on-demand charter aircraft. "We'll have plenty of space in the new facility to service a variety of aircraft we couldn't handle before. The FAA certificate will help enhance safety and efficiency," Bedwell said. "Regular inspections by the FAA will ensure a high level of quality."
Enterprise Jet Center is FAA certified to handle scheduled and unscheduled inspections and repairs; repairs and replacement of airframe and power plant components; incorporate service bulletins and Supplemental Type Certificates; fulfill FAA issued Airworthiness Directives; and other maintenance, preventive maintenance, alterations and repairs on aircraft, power plants and associated systems.
The showpiece of the new $8 million terminal is a 9,750-sq. ft. taxi-through canopy deep enough for Gulfstream V or Global Express. It will also be able to handle the fuselage and wingspan of a Boeing Business Jet (737) up to the tail. A 28,500-sq. ft. terminal office building will feature a two-story atrium lobby, pilot and crew accommodations, lounge, private business offices, and 500-sq. ft. conference room. Completing the center will be a 175,000-sq. ft. clear access ramp stressed to handle 737 aircraft. A separate area will be stressed to handle 757 aircraft.
Enterprise Jet Center has been in operation at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, TX since 1979. For more information contact Loyd Turner at (800) 637-6098 or 713.645.8317.
