HUNT WILL LEAD WESTERN SPRINTS TO SHASTA JULY 9 McCLISH GRABS STOCKTON 50-LAPPER

             Defending Valvoline USAC Western Sprint Car Champion Tony Hunt 
of Fair Oaks, Calif. is back atop the 2005 series standings and will lead 
the series to Shasta Speedway in Anderson, Calif. July 9. The Western 
Sprint Cars were rained out in their scheduled April appearance at Shasta.

             Hunt finished second to Brian McClish in Saturday's 50-lap 
feature at the Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway and has a nine-point margin in 
the new standings over runner-up Kody Swanson.

             Tim Barber ranks third in the current standings and is the 
defending winner at the Shasta oval.

             McClish, of Santa Rosa, Calif., led the final 24 laps of the 
Stockton feature in his McClish Motorsports/Consani Racing Beast/Chevy. 
Nick Rescino, Jr. led the first 26 laps but slipped to third behind McClish 
and Hunt at the checkered flag. Barber was fourth and Scott Hansen fifth.
