SASSELLI CARRIES NINE-POINT LEAD INTO CALIFORNIA STOCKTON
FOCUS RACE; BARBER WINS AT QUARTER MILE
Audra Sasselli of Fresno, Calif. leads multiple-time winner Alex Harris and
the rest of the USAC California Ford Focus Pavement Midget Car Series bunch
Saturday to its third event at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, Calif. in
as many weeks.
Sasselli holds a nine-point lead following Saturday’s 30-lap race at the
quarter-mile track, which was captured by last year’s Rookie of the Year,
Chase Barber. The Morgan Hill, Calif. teenager led the final 21 laps of the
race in the No. 91 Beast/Ford Focus, beating Robbie Whitchurch, fast
qualifier Jace Meier, Harris and Jeff Sakowicz. Sasselli finished eighth.
Harris, Barber and Benny Moon have all won at Stockton this season. This
weekend’s event is scheduled to include qualifications, heats and a 50-lap
feature.
