SCOTT REGAINS CAROLINA/VIRGINIA FOCUS LEAD WITH VICTORY

When the USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series returns to
competition July 3 at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin, N.C., a familiar
face will be at the top of the points standings.

Chase Scott of Concord, N.C. will lead his fellow competitors to the
4/10-mile paved oval with the points advantage following his near
wire-to-wire victory Thursday at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C.

Scott led all but the first three laps of the event in the No. 4 Real Race
Cars Beast/Ford Focus, posting the victory ahead of early leader Mike Ward,
Saturday’s Northeast winner Brit Andersen, defending Midwest titlist Robby
Ray and Michael Sboro. The win was the 12th for Scott, now second all-time
behind Josh Lakatos, who has 13 career Ford Focus victories.

Scott, who won last year’s event at Friendship, took the points lead from
Ray, which now stands at 17.
