A Runner Up Finish For Ashley at Englishtown

ENGLISHTOWN, New Jersey - Ashley Force, driver of the Castrol/Hot Wheels A/Fuel dragster, advanced to her third final round appearance of 2005 at the K&N Filters Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

After qualifying on the pole, Force, 22, advanced to the money round after defeating Paul Sylvester, Rich Mc Phillips and Mike Kosky. In the final round, however, the second generation racer fell short when her 3,000 horsepower nitro-injected dragster was beaten by the dragster of Randy Meyer. Meyer won the 36th annual event with a 5.38 second elapsed time. Force was close behind with a 5.42.

"We had a great weekend," said Force. "I am proud of Jerry (Darien, Ashley's crew chief) and the guys. Thanks to everyone at Castrol who came out and supported us throughout the weekend. And to my Mom and sisters who were out also for Father's Day."

In addition to a great runner up finish, the female Force recorded her quickest run of the year, a 5.262 second elapsed time. She also recorded her fastest speed of 2005 at 270.16 mph. Both were the best performances of the meet in the Top Alcohol Dragster division.

The Monday following the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals in Joliet, Ill., Ashley stepped into the driver's seat of her dad's 8,000 horsepower Funny Car. She warmed up the Castrol GTX State Up Ford in the pit and then made a 250 foot launch. Force will continue testing he dad's race car throughout the rest of the 2005 POWERade Drag Racing Season.
