ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 18, 2005) - Cory McClenathan, from Lake Havasu
City, Ariz., placed the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM AirHog Top Fuel
dragster in the No. 9 position on the final qualifying ladder for the
NHRA K&N SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in
Englishtown, N.J.
McClenathan recorded a best qualifying time of 4.541 seconds at 327.27
mph. Cory Mac, who is No. 5 on the career win list for Top Fuel
drivers, will go after his 29th win. He will square off against Morgan
Lucas in the opening round of eliminations tomorrow. Lucas qualified
No. 8 with an elapsed time of 4.526 seconds.
"We seem to have our consistency back," said McClenathan. "Tomorrow
we'll need to step it up a bit while retaining the consistency."
Crew chief Todd Smith added, "We tested this pass Monday and found some
things and it made the FRAM AirHog more predictable. I think we got the
results we wanted. We definitely made the car more consistent. That
last run we were really trying to go for it and the car didn't respond.
We're still evaluating that run but we'll be ready for tomorrow."

15 points behind eighth, 65 behind seventh, 78 behind sixth and 116 out
