Dewease Wins at SSP on Thursday Night

Dewease Claims  First SSP Sprint Car Win of the Season Thursday 

Newberrytown, PA (June 16,  2005) – Lance  Dewease got his first Susquehanna 
Speedway Park Sprint Car win of the season on  Thursday evening.  Larry Hughes 
Jr.  won his second Xtreme Stock feature of the year.  In Penn Mar Vintage 
Racing Bob Campbell  won the Modified portion of the event, while Willie 
Brymesser was the Sportsman  winner.  Johnny Mackison Jr. took  the Beerhill Gang 
sponsored Sprint Car “Wheelie�?? contest. 
Dewease started fourth in the 25-lap  Sprint Car feature, but wasted no time 
getting to the front.  Dewease had the lead before a lap was  completed, a 
never looked back.  With just one caution flag to slow the pace, Dewease opened a 
large lead  over a heated multi car battle for othe top positions.  Dewease’s 
win was his 11th  career triumph at SSP. 
Eric Stambaugh ended up with the second  position at the end, with Brian 
Leppo third.  Brent Kluge and Jason Johnson completed  the top five with Fred 
Rahmer and Greg Hodnett close behind.  Bobby Wevaer came back from an opening  lap 
spin to take eighth with Alan Krimes and Glenndon Forsythe completing the  
top five.  Heats went to Johnson and  Rahmer 
Hughes win in the 20-lap nonstop Xtreme  Stock feature came in a record time 
of 8:04.77.  Tom Slanker led the first four laps, and  then held on to finish 
second.  Mike  Goodwin, Ronnie Thomas and Karl Windish completed the top five. 
 Heats went to Slanker and David Wilhelm,  with Smoke Christine taking the 
Pepsi Dash. 
Bob Campbell took the lead from Larry  Felty on the fifth of 12 laps and went 
on to win his second Penn Mar Vintage  event at SSP this season.  Jeff  
Gamble finished second with Tom Swanger, Bryan Brooks, and Felty in the top  
five.  Willie Brymesser finished  seventh overall in the feature event, but 
was the winner of the Sportsman  Class.  Heats went to Campbell in the modifeds, 
and Paul Bacchus in  the sportsman. 
The next race at SSP will be Sunday  night, June 19 with the Trail Motors  
Super Sportsman Series will continue on Sunday, June 19 paying $1,000 to the  
winner (Sportsman Tour Purse for the remainder of the field – 24 starters / 20  
laps).  Also featured for the first  time ever is Vandamonium on Father’s Day. 
 This will be Mini Van racing presented by York Haven Auto Sales.  Also on t
he card will be the Street  Stocks and two features for the Legends Cars.  This 
is a great way to treat your father  to a night of fun and entertainment.  
The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 26.   
Gates open in the pit area and  grandstands at 5:00 p.m.  Warmups begin at 
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m.  SSP will continue its 
Repeat Fan Discount in which  there will be a $2.00 discount for each person with 
a ticket stub from the June  5 or June 16 events only.  For  example, $2.00 
off an Adult ticket for June 19 with and Adult ticket stub from  the June 5 or 
June 16 events.  Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address 
and phone  number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings to 
be held  during the season for great prizes.  Last season, the grand prize 
was two tickets to the NASCAR race in  October at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in 
Charlotte, North  Carolina.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of 
$18.00 for all track  license holders.
