Green looks forward to Kentucky Homecoming

Eddyville, Ky. – Mark Green may live in North Carolina, but he’ll always be from Kentucky. And when he hits the track in the #23 Vassarette Chevrolet on Saturday he’ll have plenty of family and friends in the stand at Kentucky Speedway.

“It is always nice to come home,” said Green. “It puts a few more demands on my time away from the track but I’ve been doing this long enough that everyone knows when I’m available or not. Once the flag drops it doesn’t really matter where you are.”

The track is still relatively new, but Green said he’s comfortable on the surface.

“I’ve only raced at the track a couple of times but I’ve done quite a bit of testing there for some (Nascar Nextel) Cup teams,” he explained. “I feel like I know the track pretty well and I’m confident we can make some noise this weekend.”

Crew chief Mike Byrd agrees.

“We’ve got a really good car,” he said. “It is one of the better ones in the shop and we really think we can open a few eyes on Saturday.”

The race begins at 8:05 p.m. eastern time on Saturday and will air on FX. It will be preceded by qualifying on Speed at 5:05 p.m.
