Navicom GPS Selects gedas Mapping for Mexico

gedas Mapping Will Be Used in the New Navicom GPS Box and Network Launching in August

Navicom Data Center Will Be Located in San Francisco, CA

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 14 -- NowAuto, Inc. announced today that wholly owned subsidiary Navicom will launch the q network with the state-of-the-art gedas mapping in Mexico (http://www.gedas.com/). The mapping system is superior to what is in the marketplace today. The new gedas system will have the ability to change the look and feel of the mapping application. It will also provide enhanced quality and quantity of street level mapping in Mexico. "It is important for us to have a premium mapping application in Mexico because of our focus and ability to deliver EGPRS services in Mexico. This is another example of how having the ability to control your own backend server/software combo will allow Navicom to become a dominant GPS solutions provider," said Keith Tench, President of Navicom.

gedas is one of the largest German system integrators in the field of information technology. The gedas Group has its headquarters in Berlin and encompasses 16 affiliated companies, of which 12 are outside of Germany. The wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG develops individual sector solutions for industry, trade and logistics and for the public sector. In the year 2000, gedas generated global revenues of EUR 493 million, an increase of 49 percent compared with the previous year's EUR 331 million. At present, more than 4,200 employees are working for the information service provider at 50 locations across the world.

Navicom has also been working hard to complete the backend server setup. To date, all HP http://www.hp.com/ servers are up and running at the data center located in San Francisco and are set to be networked within the week. The Navitraq V and VI which are being produced using the UTP platform for both Microburst as well as EGPRS are set to be delivered in August. The application that has been written for the Microburst device has been sent to Aeris.net http://www.aeris.com/ for certification. Both units will house up to 30 I/O's to handle almost any type of custom application.
