Wheelie Contest Highlights SSP on Thursday Night
Sprint Car Wheelie Contest Highlights Thursday Night at SSP
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (June 13, 2005) – This Thursday night, June 16, the
Susquehanna Speedway Park will host the 2nd Annual Sprint Car Wheelie contest
presented by the Beer Hill Gang along with the Sprint Cars, Xtreme Stocks and
Penn Mar Vintage Car Club Tour. The $1,000-to-win Wheelie Contest will be
judged by five celebrity judges, which includes last year’s Wheelie Champion,
Eric Stambaugh. Drivers already entering the contest include Bobby Weaver,
Johnny Mackison and Billy Kimmel. More are expected to enter on Thursday night.
Greg Hodnett of Memphis, TN continues to lead the SSP Sprint Car point
championship, however with last Sunday’s feature win, Fred Rahmer was able to
close up his lead to 26 points. Despite hard luck on Sunday, Lance Dewease
moved to third along with Jason Johnson. Up-and-coming sprint car young gun,
Blane Heimbach moved into fifth place in points.
Rick Reinoehl of York won in his first night out of the year in the same
car that Gene Knaub won with the previous week’s Xtreme Stock Car feature
event. David Wilhelm of Harve de Grace, MD continues to lead as Michael Goodwin
and Charlie Pensinger continue to pursue him. The Xtreme Stock Car drivers
eligible for the double purse money bonus are Reinoehl, Daryl Beakler, Smoke
Christine, Daryl Beakler, Bryon Sipe and Chris Mudd. These drivers will
automatically start at the rear of the feature event, and if any or all of these
drivers make it into the top five finishing spots, then that driver will
receive double purse money for that position. These drivers will also compete in
the 4-lap Pepsi Challenge Dash paying $50.00 to the winner.
Gates open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket

discount for each person with a ticket stub from the June 5 or June 12 events only.
For example, fans will receive $2.00 off an Adult ticket for June 16 with
and Adult ticket stub from the June 5 or June 12 events. Returning fans are
encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the
stub to be entered into special drawings to be held during the season for great
prizes. Last season, the grand prize was two tickets to the NASCAR race in
October at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.
