WILLIAMS TAKES HEALTHY CRA LEAD TO SANTA MARIA DESPITE GAUNT'S VICTORY AT THE PAS


JUNE 13, 2005

             Rip Williams of Yorba Linda, Calif. enjoys a 90-point lead in 
the latest Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car standings following his 
second-place finish in Saturday night's race at Perris (Calif.) Auto 
Speedway. The series continues this Saturday night at Santa Maria (Calif.) 
Speedway as part of a USAC "doubleheader" which includes the Western Midget 
Car Series.

             Rickie Gaunt of Torrance, Calif. won Saturday night's 
30-lapper at Perris, passing early leader Danny Sheridan on the 12th lap 
and leading the rest of the way in his Smiley's Crane Service/Extreme 
Chassis Company Chargin/Extreme.

             Trailing Gaunt and Williams were Cory Kruseman, R.J. Johnson 
and Charles Davis, Jr. Fast qualifier Damion Gardner was uninjured in a 
flip during the feature. The fast time was Gardner's 12th this year!
