Cruz Pedregon Wrap Up
Advance Auto Parts Driver Pleased With Car Performance
JOLIET, Ill. (June 12, 2005) Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto
Parts Nitro Funny Car, handed the first round of eliminations to brother
Tony after he red lit at the starting line during todayıs eighth annual NHRA
Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
The 1992 NHRA Funny Car World Champion logged a 4.849-second elapsed time at
318.99 mph, but a red light start told the tale. Tony Pedregon covered the
Joliet quarter mile in 4.847 seconds at 299.33 mph to move to the second
round.
³In this sport a red light can happen to anyone,² Pedregon said. ³You try to
get an advantage anywhere you can, but it is a very fine line between a
perfect reaction time and leaving too early. I like racing in the edge
because it pays off most of the time.
³The Advance Auto Parts car has placed some solid runs this weekend,² added
Pedregon. ³We leave Joliet with the car performing well and I am very
satisfied with the work of Wes Cerny (crew chief) and the rest of my team. I
feel we are heading to Englishtown ready to pick up where we ended today.²
Pedregon is No. 5 in NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series points with 571.
