Q Racing Car Will Have Brother Cruz By His Side During First Round
 

JOLIET, Ill. (June 11, 2005) ­ Tony Pedregon powered his ŒQ¹ Racing Nitro
Funny Car to the 5th-qualifying position for tomorrow¹s eighth running of
the CARQUEST Auto parts NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.

Pedregon¹s pass of 4.780 seconds at 323.5 mph kept him in a position where
he will be facing brother, Cruz Pedregon, during the first round of Sunday¹s
eliminations. 

The ŒQ¹ Racing driver talked about his views in racing against his brother.

³Cruz and I have competed against each other since we were children,²
Pedregon said. ³I would prefer to not have to race against him in the first
round; but at least, we know that one of us will move to second race. And I
am racing to win.²

Pedregon¹s crew chief, Dickie Venables comments on tomorrow¹s eliminations.

³We race the racetrack, that is our focus,² Venables said. ³We¹ll try to run
the best we can and not think about who we race against. The ŒQ¹ Racing car
is gaining consistency and running very competitively. Proof is we qualified
in the top half of the field.²
