Bloomington Speedway -- June 10 Rainout

Bloomington Speedway Rained Out Again
BLOOMINGTON, IN (June 11, 2005) - Another Friday night has passed; and another evening of the best motorsports competition has fallen victim to the weatherman. An unprecedented five straight rainouts has us all scratching our heads. Our competitors and fans are more than ready for the competition to resume, However, there is nothing we can do about that until next Friday night when we will try again to continue our season.
Yesterday we followed the plan that we announced last week. The outcome, unfortunately, was the same. We can take some comfort in the fact that we gave it our best shot; but that doesn't put an extra lap on Mike Miles' red clay.
The event last night was not just another race. It was the Sheldon Kinser Memorial. It is a very important tradition with us, our competitors, and our fans. The last thing that we want is for mother nature to have another spot on the list of Sheldon Kinser Memorial winners. Mike Miles and his staff are in the process of studying the schedule in search of a new date for the Sheldon Kinser Memorial. Watch for the new date and make plans to be there.
There may be a bright spot in all of this, at least for one team. Steve and Brad Fox have built a new race car; and they had retained four time Bloomington Speedway champion Derek Scheffel to drive it. They had planned for Derek to race it on June 3 to shake it down to make certain that it was ready for the Sheldon Kinser Memorial. Of course, that opportunity was washed out along with our races on June 3. They would, of course, have had to run the Sheldon Kinser Memorial without the trial run. Perhaps they will now have an opportunity to race test the new car before a rescheduled Sheldon Kinser Memorial. With four Bloomington Speedway championships to his credit, Derek would have to be a serious threat to win; and certainly driving a Fox prepared car would have to help his chances. As soon as a new date is announced put it on your schedule.
That's enough about this week's rainout. We now need to move on and prepare for next Friday night when the good folks with WSKT 92.7 will be with us for another evening of the best racing anywhere and whatever brand of fun that they may elect to bring with them.
In addition to the sprint cars, the O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. modifieds and the Tire and Wheel Center super stocks will also contribute to another great evening of racing at Bloomington Speedway.
