Ward's Reports Estimated North American Vehicle Production - 6/10/2005

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 10 -- Vehicle production this week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 348,038 units, up 15.4 percent from the 301,656 cars and trucks built last week, according to WardsAuto.com.

Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 7,534,335 vehicles, down 1.8 percent from like-2004's pace.

In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 250,790 vehicles this week, up 22.3 percent from the 205,119 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 5,603,608 units, down 1.9 percent compared to the 5,712,493 vehicles built in like-2004.

This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 62,881, an increase of 1.3 percent from the 62,090 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,227,538 units, down 2.9 percent compared to the 1,264,783 vehicles produced in like-2004.

Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 26.9 percent; Ford Motor Co., 24.3 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 15.7 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.5 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.1 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.3 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.3 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.1 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.6 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.5 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.0 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.4 percent; and other manufacturers, 3.3 percent.
