Heartland Express, Inc. Declares Regular Quarterly Dividend

CORALVILLE, Iowa--June 9, 2005--Heartland Express, Inc. The Board of Directors of Heartland Express, Inc. announced today the declaration of a regular quarterly cash dividend. The $0.02 per share dividend will be paid on July 1, 2005 to shareholders of record at the close of business on June 20, 2005. A total of approximately $1.5 million will be paid on the Company's 74.8 million outstanding shares of common stock.

A 50% stock dividend declared and paid in the 3rd quarter of 2004 has increased annual cash dividends to approximately $6.0 million compared to $4.0 million prior to the stock dividend.

Heartland Express, Inc. implemented a quarterly cash dividend program in the third quarter of 2003. This is the Company's eighth consecutive quarterly cash dividend.
