SSP Postpones Thursday, Will Race on Sunday Night

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (June 9, 2005) – Due to a late afternoon storm, SSP has
postponed its racing events originally scheduled for Thursday night, June 9 to
Sunday night, June 12 when it will host one of the biggest nights of the year
featuring the Sprint Cars, Xtreme Stocks, W.O.W. (Women on Wheels) Stock
Cars, Great American School Buses and Kid’s Big Wheel Racing. All kids are
encouraged to bring their own Big Wheels, however there will be some available at
the track for those who do not have big wheels. Lots of great prizes will
be available for all entrants.
Greg Hodnett of Memphis, TN continues to lead the SSP Sprint Car point
championship, however Upperco, MD’s Jeff Shepard slightly closed up the lead and
moved into second place with a feature win last week. Fred Rahmer remained in
third and Lance Dewease dropped from second to fourth with a 20th place
finish last week due to mechanical problems. Jason Johnson also had some bad
luck last week with a broken rear axle but retained fifth place in points.

Gene Knaub of Dover returned to SSP after a three week absence with a new
car and won the first night out with it in last week’s Xtreme Stock Car
feature event. David Wilhelm of Harve de Grace, MD continues to leads as Michael
Goodwin gained some ground but is still more than 40 points. Last season’s
champion Charlie Pensinger continues to struggle this season, but is still in
third position. Opening night feature winner, Jerry Blauch and Adam Smith
round out the top five. The Xtreme Stock Car drivers eligible for the double
purse money bonus are Knaub, Smoke Christine, Daryl Beakler, Goodwin and Bryon
Sipe. These drivers will automatically start at the rear of the feature
event, and if any or all of these drivers make it into the top five finishing
spots, then that driver will receive double purse money for that position.
These drivers will also compete in the 4-lap Pepsi Challenge Dash paying $50.00
to the winner.
The Women on Wheels (W.O.W.) Stocks return along with the Great American
