Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc. Successfully Completes Phase One Testing Using Altair's Nanomaterials in Its PLI Batteries
NEW YORK, June 9 -- Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc. (ABAT - News), a developer and manufacturer of rechargeable Polymer- Lithium-Ion (PLI) batteries, announced today the successful completion of phase one tests utilizing Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. Lithium Titanate Spinel Electrode Nanomaterials in its PLI batteries. The first shipment of Altair's nanomaterials was delivered to Advanced Battery's Harbin, China Research and Development Center in April 2005.
The test results for phase one indicated significant improvements in recharge time. The data indicates that when using Altair's rapid charge electrode nanomaterials in Advanced Battery's PLI batteries, recharge time was approximately 30 to 45 minutes, compared to recharge time for existing PLI batteries of approximately three to three and a half hours.
During a recent visit to Advanced Battery's Research and Development Center and manufacturing facilities, Altair CTO Dr. Bruce J. Sabacky commented, "I'm very pleased with the results in phase one tests. We will work with Advanced Battery's research and development team closely in the follow-up tests and expect to see additional improvements in other areas."
"We're very excited to see the successful results in phase one tests", commented Advanced Battery Chairman Mr. Zhiguo Fu, "Through the cooperation of Advanced Battery and Altair, we're hoping to change the basic economics of energy usage in electric vehicles and produce a fundamental change in consumer attitudes toward the electric vehicle."
