Robby Gordon Motorspors: Harrah's Dover Recap

Robby Gordon Quotes from Dover

“The last three weeks (All-Star open through Dover) we have been
extremely competitive. I would say we have had a top 10, if not a
top-five car each of those races. Greg (Erwin), Frank (Kerr) and the
guys have given me cars that have been very driveable.

Menard Engineering has been doing a very good job. The motors have made
it through some demanding races and I would say the intermediate motor
program is close to being on par with the top teams. Looking at the
schedule, there is going to be an opportunity to make some headway in
the points standings over the next three weeks. Last year we managed to
score two top-10 finishes in both Pocono races in the No. 31 car. We
have previously qualified and run well at Michigan. Both of those tracks
are high horsepower tracks and should be well suited to our motor
package. We are testing a brand new road course car at Infineon this
week were traditionally we have been very competitive. Our goal is to
get the team into the top 35 in points by the time we get to Daytona.

I missed all the practice sessions on Saturday and started at the rear
of the field. By the time the first caution came out in the race we have
passed a lot of cars. Martin Truex did a good job of getting the car
dialed in for us. We made a quick decision to stay out and it turned out
to be a good strategy. We led seven laps and showed that we could be a
contender in the race. Unfortunately we had a tire go down and that put
us several laps down. From there we just had to run a smart race and try
for the best possible finish for Harrah’s. We passed a ton of cars all
day and continued to be one of the better cars on the track. The car
responded well all day to all the changes we made.

Our team is gelling, and while I know I sound like a broken record, we
are better than our finishes show, and I believe others are starting to
notice. There have been a lot more media requests and questions about
our better performance and while we may not be on everybody’s radar
right now, they better start checking it soon.”
