TRIPLE-DOUBLE SHOW AT IRWINDALE SATURDAY NIGHT + PURE STOCKS!

DODGE TWINS NIGHT AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY … SAT. JUNE 11
DOUBLE RACES: SUPER TRUCKS, SUPER LATE MODELS, & MINIS
Twiners Get In For Half-Price … Plus Justice Brothers/High Point Pure Stocks

Irwindale, Calif. - - Double your pleasure, double your fun … With twin points races for three of the Speedway's most popular divisions PLUS an extra added attraction in the form of the new (and very entertaining) Justice Brothers/High Point Pure Stocks, there should be plenty of Irwindale's patented “three wide” live NASCAR racing.

LIVE NASCAR RACING: Hey, we all know that sitting home and watching NASCAR on TV is great fun. But there's really nothing like being there in person with thousands of like-minded fans … And Irwindale Speedway makes that possible at bargain-basement prices every Saturday night from March through October.

TWINS HALF PRICE, TRIPLETS ONE-THIRD: There's even one of Irwindale's fun promotions on the docket (e.g. Accordion Night) and this Saturday night (June 11) is no exception. This latest promo will see all twins getting in to the race at ½-price. And since there are three twin races set, triplets will get in for 1/3-price! The hope is that the girls from the chewing gum adverts will show, but ALL twins and trips (identical or fraternal) are welcome to take the Speedway up on the deal!

THEY GET 50 POINTS FOR EACH RACE, CAPICHE?: OK, here's the obligatory 'graph on twin races, pointed up by the double win that Tim Huddleston laid on the Auto Club Late Models last Saturday. Hud went 72 points up on his nearest pursuer on June 4. That's a bunch of points in a division that usually decides its championship by under 20 points! Do good (like JB driver TH) and you do well, mess up in the first race and duff the second and boot your season chances.

LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS SUPER LATE MODELS: Todd Southwell (San Marcos) leads them in with 322 points comprised of two wins and a strong record that has seen the former mechanic/spotter finish no lower than fifth in any of the seven races run thus far. However, he has a shadow, and that shadow is named Rod Johnson (Canyon Country). Old pro (in terms of driving experience, not driver's license age) Johnson has been picking them up and putting them down pretty good himself this season. Only 20 points behind, there are an infinite number of scenarios that could see him vault into the lead after Saturday night's double events. The Speedway's first Lucas Oils Super Late Models Champ, he knows how the crown feels and wants another shot at it.

Andrew Phipps (Simi Valley) is classed as a “Rookie” in this division (kinda like Jim Clark at the Speedway a few decades back) but his performance has been anything but … with two wins he lies third in points at 292 and his future looks to loom large in this hotly-contested division.

DODGE SUPER TRUCKS: It's Dodge Night at the races and, it's very appropriate that the very popular Dodge Super Trucks will be front and center on Saturday night. Another close chase and another chance for someone to shoot ahead and/or slip back in the season championship/ Cory Fancy (Canyon Country) has the lead in this competitive class.

MINI STOCKS: Steve Rogers (Glen Avon) has a four point lead in the NASCAR Mini Stocks. This is a rare “Twin” for the Mini Stocks and team meetings about strategy, staying out of trouble, getting two good finishes (instead of a motor-bending win in race one and a no-show in race two), and listening to your spotter when he or she says “Patience, easy, easy!” … Of course, all that goes out the window when the green flag drops … These small cars have big hearts!

JUSTICE BROTHERS / HIGH POINT DISTRIBUTING PURE STOCKS: What a great show these colorful machines put on last weekend! Three-wide on the third-mile, and inexpensive! These cars are designed to be inexpensive right out of the 'chute: tight, tough rules keep the racing close and the price to do it low. John Mattie (Highland) has been having a very good year in the Justice Brothers/High Points Pure Stocks with a fourth, a second, and two first in the four (of eight) races so far.

KING TACO ON-TRACK AUTOGRAPH PARTY: Well worth getting out to the track early, every fan should be a part of this wonderful fun time at the races. Drivers and crews up close and personal, the cars, the excitement, the calm before the storm. Bring your camera, get a program for autographs, and spend some time right on the front straight of one of the country's favorite short tracks.
