AMECA Announces Accreditation to CTCV for Testing Automotive Safety Glass and Safety Glazing Materials
WASHINGTON, June 2 -- AMECA (Automotive Manufacturer Equipment Compliance Agency) announces it has extended accreditation to CTCV to test automotive Safety Glass and Safety Glazing Materials.
Only technically proficient, professional laboratories which maintain a record keeping system with a calibration program and have demonstrated the ability to test to every aspect to the relevant safety standard are granted AMECA accreditation. AMECA requires every laboratory to establish and utilize a documented calibration program to assure the required degree of accuracy in measurements. The documented accuracy of all measurement instrument standards remain traceable to primary standards maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology of the United States of America or the national physical laboratory maintaining such standards in the country in which the laboratory is located.
Through the accreditation process, CTCV has clearly demonstrated that it has the equipment, personnel and appropriate qualifications to produce accurate, repeatable and technically valid test data to meet the rigorous requirements of the AMECA accreditation process.
About COMPANY
CTCV is a private non profitable organisation founded in 1987 by a common agreement between Industrial Federations and Governmental Agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Economy of Portugal.
It was created to support the industry on a nationwide basis. Its main goals may be summarised as: to provide technical and technological support to the ceramics, cement and glass industries; to promote the development and quality of industrial products and processes; to promote highly specialised training to industry personnel; to divulge scientific, technical and technological information; to carry through and dinamize research, development and demonstration work, considering the scientific and technological progress of the ceramic, cement and glass materials and processes.
CTCV has a sustained development of its activity that attained an annual turnover of 3 million euros in 2000.
It has close links with several Universities and Research Centers, both in Portugal and abroad. It is a founder of an European network of R,D&D Ceramic Technical Laboratories, the CerLabs, cooperating together towards a better European industry and the coordinator-member of the Portuguese Association of Technological Centers, named RECET.
CTCV is certified according ISO 9001:2000 and has all laboratories accredited according EN ISO/ IEC 17025 and by AMECA - Automotive Manufacturers Equipment Compliance Agency, Inc. (for the safety glass) and by European institutions within the framework of CerLabs-European Network of National Ceramic Laboratories.
