Robotic Production Technology Introduces RoboTrim RT-1000 Router Trimming Solution
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 2 -- Robotic Production Technology (RPT) introduces the RPT RoboTrim RT-1000 router trimming solution, designed specifically for thermoformers, as well as injection molders, blow molders and rotational molders.
"In many cases, this flexible and safe system provides 50 percent higher throughput than the traditional five-axis CNC trimming machines formerly used by some of RPT's newest customers," said Paul Schuch, Robotic Production Technology routing sales manager. "In addition, the Accuracy Enhancement software tools available with this system allow for quick changeovers between parts, resulting in more runtime."
Robotic Production Technology has delivered more than 15 of these systems since product inception in the fall of 2004. The key benefits to the RoboTrim RT-1000 system are increased throughput, more uptime due to high reliability, improved flexibility and enhanced safety.
Standard
The RPT RoboTrim RT-1000 is designed to use one or two FANUC M-16iB robots and an aux-axis servo-controlled 10' rotating table. RPT developed application-specific software tools -- RPT RouterWare -- that make the system easy to use. The system comes equipped with the FANUC Robotics iPendant and features a three-second index of the 10' diameter rotating table with a 1000 lb. fixture and part capacity on each side. Its single base construction makes it easy to install and move within a manufacturing facility.
Options
Options include addition of a second robot, increased part height and automatic tool change. The system can also be used for deflashing by adding the patent-pending RPT Compliant Knife. Manufacturers can also add the RPT RouterVAC high volume vacuum system for part hold down and chip removal and RPT TrimPro offline programming software.
Robotic Production Technology continually works with FANUC Robotics to develop and improve solutions that meet the special needs of router trimming robotic applications. For the past several years, Robotic Production Technology has grown its business in the plastics routing market.
"RPT is investing significant resources into developing pre-engineered robotic trimming solutions for the routing market. The RoboTrim RT-1000 is just one of a family of products that RPT will be introducing over the next months to address the different part size needs of thermoformers and molders," said Chuck Russo, CEO of Robotic Production Technology.
"Robotic Production Technology has achieved solid growth and success by introducing robotics into the plastic routing market which has historically been dominated by CNC machines," said Kevin McManus, president of Robotic Production Technology. "Robots are proving to be faster, more flexible and are much more robust and reliable when compared to standard industrial CNC machines."
Robotic Production Technology recently signed an exclusive agreement to continue its role as FANUC Robotics' exclusive partner for routing and waterjet cutting automation for non-metallic materials in the Americas. A DVD and a technical datasheet are available by visiting http://www.rpt.net/ or calling 248.829.2820. Manufacturers are also invited to visit RPT to see a demonstration of the new system.
