Lebanon Valley Speedway Press Release

Kinser still the King, Tremont Captures Wild One
-By: Rodney Rescott
May 30, 2005: Carquest® and Lebanon Valley Speedway presented the Greatest
Show on Dirt! The standing-room-only crowd witness why they call him the “
King??. Steve Kinser, aboard his familiar Quaker State #11, used the high
line to win his 10th career victory at the Valley of Speed, in the World Of
Outlaws Racing Series® A-Main.
Kinser’s outside pole starting position was not enough to hold back the #2
of Joey Saldana at the start of the race. At the initial green flag, the
field sped into the very fast West End banking, when the #21 of Daryn Pittman,
and the #11k of Kraig Kinser got together, causing the rest of the field to
stack up behind them, bring out the first caution of the night, before the
first lap was completed. After the clean-up, the restart so Saldana get the
jump on the King, and started to pull away. Saldana lead for the first 10 laps,
when he and Kinser encountered lap traffic, which is when the King put the
high line to work.
By lap 11, Kinser took the lead, and never looked back. Saldana later
suffered a broken top wing, but salvaged a top 5 finish. Kinser crossed the
finish line followed by Donny Shatz, Paul McMahon, Kevin Swindell, and Joey
Saldana.
The Dirt Big Block Modifieds put on a show of their own after the wild,
winged action. After the standing room only crowd witnessed the excitement from
the A-Main, they would not be disappointed by the Modifieds. Steve Hough,
aboard his Hough Motors #34 took the lead early, and checked out. But after
several caution periods, the Rifenberg #21 of Donnie Corellis caught Hough, and
the battle was on. Corellis tried every way to get by, and soon saw the
opening on the high side through turns 3 and 4, but Hough wasn’t expecting
anyone to pass on the outside and slide up into the #21 causing both to bobble,
and lose a few positions to the field. The #115 S&S Asphalt of Kenny Tremont
inherited the lead, followed by the hard charging #3 Gable Auto’s Brett Hearn.
The action wasn’t done, as the flustered Corellis charged his way back into
the top three, and set his sights on the duo of Tremont and Hearn. And with
the laps winding down, Corellis was noticeably closing fast, and by lap 28 he
caught the leaders. As they came through turns 3 and four coming to the
white flag, the #21 closed on Hearn so quick, that they made contact, causing
the #3 to spin. The caution was immediately displayed, and Hearn gained control
to resume around the seventh position. Corellis was penalized and was sent
to the rear of the field, but he decided to retire due to only one lap
remaining. When the green flew again, it was all Tremont, as he captured his first
win of 2005, and first in over a year in the big block.
Keybank and Worhle’s brings you the Sportsman Topless Night, as well as
Double Features in all major divisions on Saturday, June 4th, 2005. You don’t
want to miss this show!
