Toyota plans 7th N American plant in Canada
NAGOYA May 30, 2005; Japan Today reported that Toyota Motor Corp is finalizing its plan to build a new plant in Canada as its seventh one in North America, with an eye toward raising local production and forestalling trade friction with its major competitors, company sources said Monday.
Under the plan, the new factory will be built near its existing facility in Ontario, with an annual production target of 100,000 to 150,000 subcompact cars, starting as early as in 2008, they said. Toyota's existing facility in Canada is located in Cambridge, Ontario. (Kyodo News)
