Third Wave Systems Expands High Tech Job Market in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, May 26, 2005 -- Third Wave Systems (TWS) has announced the opening of the Third Wave Systems Productivity Center in Plymouth, MN. TWS has partnered with Ellison Machinery to develop the facility, which features state of the art machining centers for aerospace and automotive prototype part design and production. The center also means new high tech jobs in Minnesota.

High tech job creation in Minnesota is part of the 13-year history of Third Wave Systems. A homegrown success story, brothers Kerry and Dr. Troy Marusich, University of Minnesota alumni, founded the company in 1993. Today, Third Wave Systems employs 24 people and provides machining modeling software and services used by Fortune 500 aerospace and automotive companies to dramatically reduce costs in product design and manufacturing.

According to President Kerry Marusich, the Productivity Center will fuel the company's growth by providing customers with a deeper service offering, from process design to part production. Titanium and composites were formerly used only in military jets or the most exceptional racing cars, because the materials were expensive and hard to machine. Today, these materials are rapidly finding their way into new commercial markets. TWS provides analysis software that makes the design and production of these types of components with greater speed and cost efficiency.

Congressman Martin Sabo (D-MN) who visited Third Wave Systems last year, said, "I am pleased that this partnership will create high tech jobs in Minnesota for cutting edge technologies."

Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, Third Wave also has offices in Detroit, MI, Sheffield, UK, and major distribution in Japan and Europe.
