SCCA Solo Department Announces New Site Acquisition
Committee
TOPEKA, Kan. (May 25, 2005) - Sports Car Club of America, Inc. Solo
Department officials have announced the formation of a Site Acquisition
Committee.
As the name suggests, the new Committee's primary responsibility will be
to provide support to Regions in locating new venues for Regional and
Divisional SCCA Solo competitions while continuing to cultivate existing
site relationships.
"As the sport of Solo continues its rapid growth, having this committee
ensures that SCCA will remain its leader," SCCA Director of Solo Tasha
Goodale said. "Our objective is to put on events in locations that best
serve the interests of both our members and the sport overall. Plus,
providing new sites for competitors gives our sport an added level of
excitement as prospective members at the new locations are given the
opportunity, perhaps for the first time, to see and participate in a
Solo event."
The members who make up the six-person committee (and their previous
Solo experience) are:
Raleigh Boreen, Chairman (Westfield, Ind.) - A member of the Saginaw
Valley Region, Boreen has participated in SCCA for 29 years and is a
Solo Safety Instructor. He presented a Site Acquisition seminar at the
2005 National Convention in Kansas City.
Tina Reeves (Rochester, N.Y.) - Reeves is a 22-year member of SCCA and
currently serves on the Solo Events Board. She is a Solo Safety
Instructor from Central New York Region. In the past, she also served
as a Northeast Divisional Solo II Steward.
George Schweikle (Lexington, Ky.) - Schweikle is a Solo Safety
Instructor from Central Kentucky Region and a 41-year member.
Bryan Nemy (Hayward, Calif.) - Nemy is from San Francisco Region and is
a 17-year member. He also is a Solo Safety Instructor.
Jim Garry (Delmar, N.Y.) - Garry is a former SEB member and is now an
active 25-year member in the Mohawk Hudson Region. He now serves as a
Solo Safety Instructor.
Bruce Bellom (Peekskill, N.Y.) - A 14-year member from New York Region,
Bellom is a current member of the Solo Safety Committee and is the
Northeast Divisional Safety Steward.
The committee is expected to convene its first meeting via conference
call Tuesday, May 31.
Suggestions and/or ideas for the committee may be submitted to Tasha
