Dell Helps CSK Auto Rev up its Product Search Engine; Retailer Uses Dell Servers to Help Improve Performance, Reliability and Accuracy of Its Automotive Parts Database
CHICAGO--May 2, 20055, 2005--DellCSK Auto Inc., one of the nation's largest automotive specialty retailers, has selected Dell PowerEdge(TM) servers to help maximize performance and increase the reliability of searches in its product database of millions of replacement auto parts and accessories.
CSK Auto stores operate as freestanding entities with Dell PowerEdge servers installed at more than 1,135 locations. The systems enable employees to search an automotive-parts database with current information for the appropriate part or accessory based on the year, make and model of a customer's vehicle. To provide additional store resources and an enhanced customer experience, CSK Auto is also installing self-serve kiosks, also powered by the Dell servers, to allow customers to search for product information.
"Accurate and up-to-date search information from our automotive parts database is crucial to the success and growth of our business," said George Duckworth, director of store support for CSK Auto.
"By refreshing our server infrastructure, we are able to update and expand the database daily with automotive part information for the specific makes and models of domestic and imported cars and light trucks," Duckworth said. "Dell servers offer high capacity and excellent price for performance, which enables us to provide fast and reliable automotive solutions to our customers."
"Retailers like CSK Auto are turning to Dell in order to stay competitive and maintain customer loyalty," said Tim Mattox, vice president of retail for Dell. "We are committed to delivering the best value and performance to our customers."
CSK Auto Inc. and its parent company, CSK Auto Corporation (NYSE-CAO), operate 1,135 company-owned stores in 19 states under the brand names of Checker Auto Parts, Schuck's Auto Supply and Kragen Auto Parts.
