Frost & Sullivan Names dSPACE Leading Manufacturing Test Company of the Year

NAPLES, Fla.--May 2, 20055, 2005--Frost & Sullivan will recognize dSPACE with the 2005 Leading Manufacturing Test Company of the Year Award at tonight's third annual Excellence in Industrial Technologies Banquet, for the company's outstanding performance in the automotive industry.

Its extremely advanced hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing systems have provided quality assurance for electronic control units (ECUs) for all major vehicle manufacturers worldwide.

dSPACE's continuous product development, vision, and expertise have earned it a leading market share in the HIL simulation systems market, leaving its competition far behind. Currently, more than 1,100 simulators around the world function with dSPACE's technology.

HIL simulation with dSPACE Simulator enables ECU tests in real time and in a realistic test environment that does not need real components. Testing in HIL simulation is a viable alternative, allowing new ECUs and software to be tested largely in a virtual environment, without real vehicles or prototypes.

The modularity involved in dSPACE's simulators allows it to run simulators in a network or separately as single simulators. dSPACE has already shown the capability to test the whole electronic car system, even if it is a network of 40 or more ECUs. That makes it one of its kind in the market, giving it a distinct competitive edge. In an ECU network test with dSPACE Simulator, ECUs that are not yet available can be simulated and replaced by their real counterparts later on.

"dSPACE is the technology leader when integration tests are involved for networked ECUs, wherein control units from different domains can be tested using a reference model set up by integrating various domain-specific HIL simulators," says Frost & Sullivan industry analyst Karthik R. "After the whole ECU network undergoes HIL testing, it is integrated into the vehicle. Automated regression tests make sure that ECU software updates do not introduce new errors."

"With global customers, dSPACE is certainly a strong brand in the automotive industry today," notes Karthik. "dSPACE has been moving from strength to strength by working closely with its clients over the years."

Frost & Sullivan presents its Company of the Year Award to the company that has demonstrated unparalleled excellence within its industry. The company's business development, competitive strategy, and customer service leadership have helped it achieve outstanding management, consistent growth, and a positive social and economic impact on local and national communities. The company has the expertise to take advantage of market changes by executing innovative marketing strategies within the existing competitive landscape.

Held in Naples, Fla., Frost & Sullivan's Excellence in Industrial Technologies Awards Banquet honors world-class companies for outstanding performance and achievements in their industries. An annual event, the banquet recognizes the quality and merit of distinguished individuals and companies.
