Chrysler Group Employees Honored For Automotive Achievements

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 24 -- Two Chrysler Group women were honored for their achievements in the automotive industry as part of The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) - Greater Detroit Chapter's "Salute to Automotive Women" on Friday, May 20 at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan.

Monica Emerson, Executive Director - Corporate Diversity Office was awarded the Presidential Diversity Award, and Diana Mercer-Pryor, Director - Global Marketing and Plant Procurement, received the Procurement Award.

Emerson joined Chrysler Corporation in December 1975, as an interviewer/counselor with Chrysler Learning. In her current position, Emerson overseas the overall design, development and deployment of DaimlerChrysler's corporate diversity strategies. This includes facilitating short and long-term strategies for implementing cultural change in all aspects of the entire business enterprise. In addition, she is responsible for Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance and Governance, and Work/Life Policies and Programs.

Mercer-Pryor joined the Chrysler Group in 1972, as an Administrative Trainee in Finance. As Director, Global Marketing and Plant Procurement, she manages a global staff of over 40 employees, located in the USA and Germany, who are responsible for the procurement of non-production commodities and services including advertising/media, merchandising, printing, construction, all disposals, fuel and energy.

In her previous position as Director, Special Supplier Relations, she was responsible for assuring that the DaimlerChrysler supply base was reflective of its customer base. Providing primary interface between the minority supply base and DaimlerChrysler.

"Her commitment to excellence, leadership and dedication to others is an inspiration for all of us."

Other winners included: Engineering/Design Awardee, Dr. Barbara Sanders, Director of Research & Development and Engineering Process for Delphi Thermal & Interior; Manufacturing Awardee, Barbara Hendrickson, President, Design Incentives, Inc.; and Woman-Owned Dealer Awardee, Sharon Cannarsa, President, Systrand Manufacturing Corporation; Advertising/Marketing Awardee, Gail Duncan, President, Jerome Duncan Ford/Sterling Collection.

NAWBO - Greater Detroit Chapter's membership represents the finest women entrepreneurs in the area who share their experience and empower each other through NAWBO membership. Their businesses range from sole proprietorship operations to those with nearly 200 employees. Among those are lawyers, financial consultants, printers, physicians, media specialists, event planners, manufacturers and property managers.
