USAC Release #99 - MIDWEST FOCUSES CONTINUE AT ANDERSON, INDIANAPOLIS; SMITH WINS AT LIMALAND IN OHIO

Back-to-back pavement events at Anderson, Ind. and Indianapolis this week
for the USAC Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series are expected to shuffle
the points following the series’ first race of the season on dirt.

Ryan Smith of Kunkletown, Pa. leads the points following his wire-to-wire
victory in Friday’s season opener at the Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima,
Ohio. Smith, who also leads the Northeast Ford Focus standings, drove the
No. 55 S&S Speedways/Chestnut Hills Trailers & Motorsports Stealth/Ford
Focus to the win over defending Midwest champ Tate Martz, Ronnie Wuerdeman,
Stephanie Mockler and Ryan Scott. Smith is not expected to compete Wednesday
at Anderson.

The Anderson Focus race is the opening end of a USAC doubleheader, which
also features the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series, and acts as a
prelude to the USAC National Ford Focus championship, which is scheduled for
Sept. 17 at Lima and Sept. 18 at Anderson. Martz won at Anderson last May.

The Midwest Focuses also run Thursday at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis
Speedrome, part of a USAC tripleheader during the weekly “Thursday Night
Thunder” series. This Thursday’s event, which also encompasses a National
and Regional Midget Car Series race and Kenyon Midget Car Series race, will
afford points toward both the Midwest and Speedrome Focus championships.
Jamie Williams of Columbus, Ind. leads the points standings in the Speedrome
weekly series.
