GMAC / Trenton Forging #5 GTO Mid-Ohio Race Wrap-Up
Hayner and Autosport Development Break Into Top-10 With 9th Place Finish
Lexington, Ohio. – May 21, 2005 The #5 GMAC Commercial Finance /
Trenton Forging GTO, driven by Stu Hayner, finished 9th in Saturday’s
SPEED World Challenge GT race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car. The SPEED
World Challenge Weekend at Mid-Ohio is presented by Trenton Forging
Quality Formed Solutions and is part of the American Le Mans Series
event, May 20-22.
“The car was the best it has ever been,” said Hayner. “We were in a
lot of traffic early on and it was challenge avoiding some of the
early race melee. Some of those guys were driving as if it were a
five lap sprint… the last thing I wanted was to get caught up in
someone else’s poor judgment. Fortunately, I was able to keep all the
fenders on and settle into a good pace.”
“After the long yellows, the traffic spread out a bit and the group I
was running with ran pretty clean,” Hayner continued. “The lead pack
was always in sight which was a good indication that the car was
pretty close to being on pace. The GT class seems to be closing up
and the series is really doing a great job keeping things
competitive. The handling when away a little toward the end of the
race, so we’ll do a little more adjusting on the GTO and I think
we’ll be ready to let this dog hunt next month in Cleveland.”
“I’m really happy we’re able to put on a good show for our guests,”
added Hayner. “Our sponsor, Trenton Forging, is the title sponsor for
the SPEED World Challenge races this weekend as well as having guests
from GMAC Commercial Finance and PR Machine so it was extra important
for us to have a good race.”
Today’s race will air May 28th on SPEED. The SPEED World Challenge
will move to Cleveland for the Cleveland Grand Prix June 23-25.
Autosport Development competes as part of the SPEED World Challenge
GT Series. All events are nationally televised on SPEED channel
