Cruz Pedregon Locks Up Seventh Qualifying Spot
The Advance Auto Parts Funny Car In Top Half of the Field

HEBRON, Ohio (May 21, 2005)  Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto
Parts Nitro Funny Car, grabbed the seventh spot following final qualifying
for tomorrow¹s 41st annual Pontiac Performance NHRA Nationals at National
Trail Raceway.

Pedregon, who currently sits fourth in this year¹s POWERade Drag Racing
Series points tussle, lapped the suburban Columbus (Ohio) quarter mile in
4.841 seconds at 317.42 mph. He talked about his weekend of qualifying.

³We qualified a little higher than we have in a while, so I¹m happy about
that,² Pedregon said. ³We had a few troubles today getting down the track,
but (Crew Chief) Wes Cerny and the team are working on our set up for
tomorrow.

³I¹m pretty confident going in,² Pedregon added. ³This team has done a great
job on race day. I know Wes will look over the data and have the car ready
to go.²

Pedregon will face off against Tommy Johnson, Jr., in round one of
eliminations.
