Nissan Motorsports Continues Its Contingency Awards Program For 2005

GARDENA, Calif.--May 1, 20059, 2005--In order to nurture the spirit of motorsport competition, Nissan is excited to continue its extensive Contingency Awards Program for 2005.

"Nothing celebrates automotive engineering and design while at the same time fueling competitiveness like auto racing," said Ron Stukenberg, Senior Manager, Motorsports Marketing and Operations. "At Nissan Motorsports, we not only support our innovative products, but we also develop winning relationships with Nissan drivers."

Nissan's 2005 Contingency Awards Program offers Nissan and Datsun drivers monetary awards for their successes. Drivers entered in a number of different auto racing arenas (outlined below) are eligible for awards. Award-eligible vehicles must display current "Nissan" logo, "NISMO" (Nissan Motorsports, International) and "Nissan Motorsports" die-cuts on designated areas of the car or truck during all race events. The drivers' race suits must also display a current Nissan patch on the upper chest.

Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)

Nissan has been a dominant force in the SCCA National Runoffs, compiling a record 86 National Championships since 1967. Any Nissan driver competing in the Grand Touring (GT), Showroom Stock, Production, and Touring classes receives a $500 bonus for simply qualifying, attending and competing at the SCCA National Runoffs; $1,000 for earning the pole position; and $5,000 goes to any national champion winning the checkered flag in a 350Z or Sentra, while $1,000 is given for winning in other Nissan models.

The SPEED World Challenge is SCCA's premiere racing series. World Challenge awards are offered to Nissan drivers in both the Grand Touring (GT) and Touring Classes, with $3,000 going to race winners and the year-end Drivers' Championship winner receiving $5,000.

SCCA Pro-Solo Award gives any Nissan Stock, Street Prepared, Street Touring, Prepared and Street Modified first place winner $100, $500 to National Championship winners. Drivers entered in the SCCA Club Racing National GT, Showroom Stock, Production and Touring Classes earn $400 for placing first in either a 350Z or Sentra. First place winners in a non-current Nissan model receive $150.

Grand Am Cup

Any Nissan or Infiniti finishing a race first in the Grand Sport (GS) or Sport Touring Class (ST) receives $2,000, with an additional $1,000 given to the winner of the February Daytona race. The winner of the overall Driver's Championship walks away with a $3,000 bonus.

Grand Am Rolex Series

For 2005, any Nissan or Infiniti finishing first in its class at the Grand Am Rolex Series receives $5,000. The winner of the overall Driver's Championship will receive a bonus of $10,000. In addition, any Nissan or Infiniti finishing first in class at the 43rd Annual Rolex 24-Hour Race will receive $10,000; second or third in Class winners earn $5,000.

Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) Pro-Lite and Pro-2 Truck Series

Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) is in its 8th season and is arguably the largest and most watched off-road racing series in North America. 2005 will be the third straight year that Nissan will be the official truck for the CORR series. In addition, Nissan will sponsor drivers Art Schmitt and Chad Hord. The 2005 Frontier bodied trucks will be painted in Nissan silver, red and black and carry NISMO graphics.

Any non-factory supported Frontier or Titan finishing first in class will receive $1,000, while a second place winner receives $500. At the end of the year, a Driver's Championship trophy winner receives a $5,000 bonus.

National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Sport Compact Drag Racing

First place winners of the E.T. Bracket, Sport RWD and Sport FWD classes will receive $100 each; second place winners $50 each. First place winners of the All Motor, Hot Rod, Modified, Pro RWD and Pro FWD classes will receive $300 each; second place winners $150 each.

2005 National Auto Sport Association (NASA) SE-R Cup

The NASA SE-R Cup Series is open to most Nissan sport compacts manufactured since 1991. The affordable and fast SE-R (SR) class is limited to Nissan's B chassis, has a limited power-to-weight ratio, a tire limitation and other restrictions on the car. Both the West and East coast champions will each receive a $750 bonus.

2005 World Drift Championship

The World Drift Championship attracts the top American and international drivers to the scene. Drivers who style and slide their way into victory as the overall drift winner in a Nissan or Infiniti will receive $200, while a Driver Championship winner can expect $1,000.

Nissan's Contingency Awards Program is also accompanied by the Grassroots Racing Parts Program in 2005, which offers participants in the contingency program special pricing on Nissan Motorsports competition parts. The Grassroots Program requires conformance to Nissan Motorsports Contingency Awards Program guidelines, including display of official current Nissan and NISMO Logos.
