ALLGAIER ON TOLEDO: ŒA GOOD RUN IS BETTER THAN A BAD STANDı
SPRINGFIELD, IL (May 19, 2005) This weekendıs ³Hantz Group 200² will only
be 18-year-old Justin Allgaierıs second attempt at an ARCA RE/MAX event this
season but the young Illinois wheelman and his team have already overcome
several mechanical woes. Engine problems postponed his 2005 debut at Salem
Speedway (after qualifying 7th) and another engine expired at an open test
at Kentucky Speedway. Having full faith in his engine builder, team and
equipment, Justin is ready to dust himself off and rebuild the teamıs
momentum and there is no better place to do so than at the 0.5-mile Toledo
Speedway.
Rather than focusing on recent hiccups, the Hoosier Tire Midwest/U.S. Air
Force #86 team would prefer to remain optimistic and draw inspiration from
last seasonıs Toledo performances. Justin was second only to mentor and
NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader in qualifying for the spring race and led laps
before a competitorıs nudge ended their strong run early. In the fall, the
team quickly rebounded and held a late race lead but ARCA champ Frank Kimmel
was able to squeeze by Justin for the win. That second place finish was
Allgaierıs career-best-to-date and he is looking forward to improving upon
it soon.
³I really hope that we have all of our bad luck for the season out of the
way already. We had motor problems at Salem after another top-10 qualifying
run and at a test session at Kentucky Speedway but Rhyne Engines has put a
lot of work into these motors so weıre ready to go. I know that we are
capable of good runs and have a real shot at winning on these short tracks
so it is a little discouraging. One of our sponsors says Œa good run is
better than a bad standı so thatıs my mindset right now,² said Allgaier with
a smile. ³We could get really down now and give up because our ARCA season
has started off a little rocky but weıre ready to buckle in, give it
everything we have and not allow the negative mindset to get the best of us.
I know there are no guarantees at a short track like Toledo because you have
to be cautiously reckless for 200 laps but Iım confident in what our team
can do as long as our driver remembers to show up.²
An optional two-hour practice will take place on Saturday, May 21, at 3:00
p.m. Another morning practice session will precede ³The Hantz Group 200²
Pork Pole qualifying, which is scheduled for 11:45 a.m., and the green flag
is scheduled to drop at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2005. For the first
time, the spring Toledo race will also broadcast live on the SPEED channel
from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (Eastern). More information on Justin Allgaier and
