Terry Borcheller - Mont-Tremblant and Mid-Ohio preview
Terry Borcheller will spend as much time in the air as on track this week,
competing in sports-car races in Canada and the United States. The
Gainesville, Ga., driver is sharing a charter plane with fellow drivers
Butch Leitzinger and Andy Wallace, commuting between le Circuit
Mont-Tremblant in Québec and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington,
Ohio.
Borcheller will drive the No. 54 Bell Motorsports Pontiac-powered Doran JE4
with Ralf Kelleners of Dusseldorf, Germany, in the Rolex Sports Car Series
at Mont-Tremblant and the No. 63 ACEMCO Motorsports Saleen S7R with Johnny
Mowlem of London, England, in the American Le Mans Series at Mid-Ohio. He'll
test at Mont-Tremblant on Thursday, practice at Mid-Ohio on Friday, race at
Mont-Tremblant on Saturday and race at Mid-Ohio on Sunday.
"We had a good finish at Mont-Tremblant last year – we were on the podium –
and we had a podium finish in the last race at Laguna Seca, so we have good
momentum," Borcheller said of his Rolex Series effort. "I love
Mont-Tremblant. It's a great rhythm track, very challenging and there are
lots of places to pass. It's Ralf's first time there, but he'll absolutely
like it."
Borcheller is also optimistic about the American Le Mans Series race. The
ACEMCO team struggled with a mandated wing reduction at the last race, but
series officials have allowed the team to return to the original wing size,
giving the car more stability.
"Mid-Ohio is a real good track for the Saleen, so we could do well if we're
ready," Borcheller noted. "We did a test day last week with the wing and it
went well. It's good to know we don't have that unknown variable to deal
with."
