NAVTEQ Named Oracle's 2005 Spatial Excellence Award Winner
CHICAGO, May 19, 2005 -- NAVTEQ , a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, earned the honor of 2005 Oracle(R) Spatial Partnership Award Winner. The Oracle Spatial Partnership Award given by Oracle is one in a series known as the Oracle Spatial Excellence Awards (OSE's). The first annual OSE's (or Ozzie's) were created by the Oracle Server Technologies Spatial organization to recognize organizations that have contributed to the advancement of mainstream enterprise solutions using geospatial technology.
The OSE Awards were given in four categories including Oracle Spatial Innovator, Oracle Spatial Integrated Enterprise, Oracle Spatial Education and Research, and Oracle Spatial Partnership. NAVTEQ was named the Oracle Spatial Partnership winner amongst approximately 100 companies recognized as Oracle Spatial partners. The Oracle Spatial Partnership Award was granted to the organization that has done the most to support and develop the Oracle Spatial users' community. NAVTEQ was chosen as Oracle Spatial partner of the year because of its leadership in driving the integration of geospatial information into the enterprise. NAVTEQ maps are particularly well suited to enable the advanced location functionality offered by Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Spatial because the maps provide a precise and detailed representation of the road network necessary for sophisticated routing, geocoding and raster image management.
"Oracle 10g stands as a testament to Oracle's commitment to helping customers derive real business value through the integration of spatial data into the enterprise. We've been working closely with Oracle to support this objective and are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts and focus on spatially enabling the enterprise," commented Bob Denaro, Vice President & General Manager, NAVTEQ Business Solutions.
"Oracle is honored to recognize NAVTEQ for their leadership position in the formation of the North American Oracle-Spatial Special Interest Group and their work to make high quality digital map data widely available to the Oracle Spatial community," said Jim Steiner, Senior Director, Oracle Server Technologies.
