USAC:STANLEY FEATURE RESCHEDULED; CROP OF DRIVERS HEADING TO MIDWEST

Despite Saturday’s rainout of the Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car
Series feature at East Lincoln Motor Speedway in Stanley, N.C. and a
two-week break from points-paying races, series competitors will still find
time to compete in Ford Focus midget racing.

Defending series champion and current points leader Chase Scott of Concord,
N.C. will lead several Carolina/Virginia drivers Friday to Lima, Ohio for a
Midwest Ford Focus Midget Car Series race. Lima is the first of two sites
hosting a National Ford Focus feature, which is scheduled for Sept. 17. The
Anderson (Ind.) Speedway will host the two-race series finale Sept. 18.

“This is going to be a good warm-up,” said Scott of the upcoming Lima event.
“This will be a good learning experience, just running the track and racing
with the other guys. The more experience we get, the better we are come the
Nationals.”

Expected to join Scott on Friday are 2003 Midwest Ford Focus titlist Robbie
Ray, 2004 Carolina/Virginia runner-up Mike Ward, and Ginny Quinones. Others
from the region will make a decision later in the week as to whether to make
the trip. Several drivers from the Oklahoma region are also expected to join
the Midwest and Carolina/Virginia contingent.

Scott continues to lead the Carolina/Virginia points standings following
Saturday’s events in Stanley. Ward and Ray won heat races before rain forced
postponement of the feature. It has been rescheduled for June 11.

The next points race for the Carolina/Virginia series is scheduled for June
4 at South Boston (Va.) Speedway.
