USAC - KERSHAW WINS DIRT FOCUS FEATURE; CALIFORNIA PAVEMENT
RESUMES FRIDAY AT STOCKTON
The California Ford Focus Midget Car Series returns to the hardtop Friday at
Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, Calif. following another week of dirt
racing and another new USAC Ford Focus feature winner.
Rob Kershaw of Ventura, Calif. scored his first career Ford Focus victory
Saturday, winning the 20-lap California Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series
feature at the Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway.
Kershaw, a veteran of the USAC/CRA Valvoline Sprint Car Series, led every
lap in the No. 40 Camland Motorsports/Agromin PowerMix TCR/Ford Focus to
beat Keith Janca, Chase Barber, Alex Harris and Bret Engstrom. Series point
leader Audra Sasselli finished sixth, one spot ahead of Todd Carroll, who
holds second in the standings.
Drivers J.R. Williams and Keith Iaia escaped serious injury in flips during
the feature.
The dirt series is now on break until June 3 at Watsonville, Calif.
Sasselli, who also owns the top spot in the pavement series points, leads
the hardtop contingent to Stockton.
