KISS SERIES TO VISIT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY
ON MAY 20
O'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS/Monroe County Pizza Dept. MODIFIEDS & TIRE & WHEEL CENTER SUPER STOCKS TO PAY $600 TO WIN
BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 15, 2005) - The KISS (King of Indiana Sprint Series) is in its fifth year. Although the series has been scheduled to compete at Bloomington Speedway last four seasons; the first two fell victim to the weatherman. Since the series rules do not permit "makeup" shows, none of them were rescheduled. The series was very successful the first four years; and we look forward to being a part of the fifth round this season.
So far this season Dick Gaines II and Kent Christian have scored feature wins on Bloomington Speedway's red clay. However, there a number of drivers in addition to these two who are capable of winning at Bloomington Speedway. Jon Sciscoe and Gaines are tied for the points lead; but Kevin Besecker, Kevin Briscoe, and Christian are only a few points behind. And, that is only the start of the story. The USAC sprint cars are idle next weekend; and it is likely that many of their regulars will unload to take on the Bloomington Speedway regulars. It is impossible to predict who will win; but it's a safe bet that it will be a great race.
The KISS series puts a factor into the equation that doesn't come into play in our regular shows. The heat races will be lined up by a blind draw rather than qualifications. This means that a driver who has trouble in his heat race will have to come through the "B" feature; and, if they transfer, they'll have to come from the back of the field to win the feature. There is nothing more exciting than watching a couple of top drivers battle each other as they work their way from the back of the pack fighting for a feature win.
The series was rained out this weekend at Gas City I-69 Speedway on May 13. This means that the Bloomington Speedway program will open the series. It will continue on Saturday night (May 21) at Lincoln Park Speedway. The rest of the series races will be contested at Lawrenceburg Speedway (May 28), Kokomo Speedway (June 19), and Paragon Speedway (June 25). The series finale will be held at the Terre Haute Aciton Track on July 2.
In addition to a huge field of Sprint Cars, the O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. UMP Open Wheel Modifieds and Tire and Wheel Center Indiana Super Stocks will be in competition. These racers will probably also turn out in huge numbers as there will be racing for $600 to win with proper decals.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $15 for this special event; and pit admission is $25. There will be no entry fee for this special show. Overnight camping is permitted. Coolers are allowed; but glass containers are prohibited.

BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY FEATURES SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS, & SUPER STOCKS ON FRIDAY, MAY 27
BLOOMINGTON, IN (May 15) - With luck, by the time that May 27 rolls around we will have our third show in the books. Of course, we had planned to have run twice that many; but we have found, as race fans the world over have learned, we just can't depend on the weatherman. All we can do is make the most of the dates we do get in. And, we do our best to do that every week.
Some of the best racers anywhere compete just about every Friday night on the red clay of Bloomington Speedway, The points leaders now are Dick Gaines II and Jon Sciscoe tied for the lead in the sprint car division, Jesse Cramer in the modified division, and Danny Harris in the super stock division. However, the competition at Bloomington Speedway is much deeper than that there are potential feature winners all of the way through the feature.
Bloomington Speedway will feature sprint cars, O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. modifieds, and Tire and Wheel Center super stocks. All three classes typically show up in force every Friday night. The full pits that are a trademark of Bloomington Speedway insure a lot of racing. A typical program includes 12 heat races, 3 B features, and 3 features. At some tracks, a program like that could run to the wee hours of the morning. However, Mike Miles and his able staff do everything in their power to keep the program moving. And, the competitors know that when it's their time to race, they'd better be in the staging area and ready to go. Consequently, most are there when they need to be.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event (children are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $20. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.
