GOODWOOD, ONTARIO The opening round of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting
Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels kicked off with the Saturday
headline class, Formula Junior. It was the start of a great day of racing.
Here are the Junior class wrap up reports.
Formula Junior
Cameron Mortorsports CRG driver, Maxime Pelletier took the pole, and then
went on to overhaul early leader, First Kart's David Ostella for the win.
Birel's Kenny Riedmann finished second after a race long battle with
Cameron Motorsports Kyle Marcelli on his CRG.
Rotax Max Junior
Cameron Motorsports' Mike Vincec took the pole and he went on to win by
.747 over First Kart's Kevin Monteith. Third was Cameron Motorsports'
Maxime Pelletier.
Canada Junior Light
The youngest driver registered, Gold Kart's Reid Arnold had a clean sweep
in Canada Junior Light. He took the Pfaff Fast Qualifier pole award by .272
over fellow Gold Kart driver, Vincent Rago. Arnold went on the win by 3.071
seconds over Birel's Mitchell Casey, who had moved up from fourth on the
grid. Birel's Andrew Waring had qualified third, and finished third also.
World Formula Junior
World Formula Junior enjoyed an impressive 20 kart field for round 1, and
Team Hurricane's Joshua Korenyl of Stoney Creek took the Pfaff Fast
Qualifier pole award by a scant .092 over TrackMagic's Dylan Gibson.
Korenyl went on to win by a comfortable 4-second margin over Team
Hurricane's Scott Laporte and defending 2004 champion William Keatings.
Canada Junior Heavy
Gold Kart's Justin Holtom took the Pfaff Fast qualifier award and he went
on to win the titanic battle that ensued. Numerous lead changes and one red
flag kept those watching on the edge of their seats until the very end when
Holtom crossed the line first. Second was First Kart's Kevin Monteith and
3-S Birel driver Kenny Riedmann was third.
