HOOSIERS EAST, CLEMONS, HENDRICK TAKE SPEEDROME WINS THURSDAY

Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind.; Josh Clemons of Greenfield, Ind.; and
Jonathan Hendrick of Yorktown, Ind. captured Thursday 50-lap feature events
during the “Thursday Night Thunder” session, presented by Traderindiana.com
and Wheels & Deals, at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome.

East, a two-time Regional Midget Car Series victor in 2004 and multi-time
National Midget Car Series winner, tuned up for the May 26 National race by
putting on a clinic. Starting 20th – the final spot in the lineup – East
used the high line to get around Nick Bohanon on the final lap of the
Regional feature. It was the only lap led during the event by East, who
drove the Nine Racing Team ASE/Ford Beast/Ford. Bohanon was trailed by Joe
Liguori and Nationally licensed drivers Brad Kuhn and Mario Marietta. Kuhn
grabbed a six-point lead over Travis Young by virtue of his fourth-place
finish.

Clemons, driving the Clemons Hauling/Frosty’s Windbreak Trees Kenyon/Ford
Focus, led all 50 laps in the Speedrome Ford Focus Midget Car Series feature
after starting on the outside of the front row. It was the fourth career
victory in the series for Clemons, who led Stephanie Mockler, Jamie
Williams, Rex Norris III and John Mount to the finish. Williams continues to
lead the points following his win in the season opener May 5.

ABC sportscaster Jack Arute competed in his first career USAC Ford Focus
race and finished eighth.

Hendrick, piloting the Hendrick Pool-owned Pendleton Pike Auto
Sales/Hinchman Indy Kenyon/Yahama, led the final 13 laps of the Kenyon
Midget Car Series feature after passing defending series champion Dakoda
Armstrong on the front straightaway, scoring his first career USAC triumph.
Following Hendrick to the stripe were last week’s winner Bryan Clauson,
Blake Fitzpatrick, Armstrong and Miranda Throckmorton. Clauson now holds a
six-point lead over Hendrick.

The third installment of “Thursday Night Thunder” comes next Thursday, May
19.
