DealerTrack Completes Chrome Systems Acquisition
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., May 11, 2005 -- DealerTrack Holdings, Inc. today announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Chrome Systems Corporation. Chrome Systems, based in Portland, Oregon, is a provider of vehicle configuration data and related software to the automotive retail industry.
"We are pleased to announce this acquisition, which adds a new and complementary product line to the DealerTrack platform," said Mark O'Neil, DealerTrack's president and chief executive officer. "Chrome Systems is well- known among the major participants in automotive eCommerce -- manufacturers, dealers and financing sources -- for providing comprehensive and accurate vehicle configuration data. The ability to retrieve reliable inventory data from a dealer's DMS with the click of a mouse will enhance the value of the DealerTrack product suite."
Chrome Systems pioneered the technology behind electronic vehicle configuration with its introduction of PC Carbook(R). Since 1986, Chrome has collected, analyzed and enhanced raw data about all makes, models and vehicle options offered by auto manufacturers that sell into the North American market. Chrome's solutions are used in 13,500 dealerships, including half of all franchised dealers in the U.S. and Canada; power more than 2,600 Web sites; and help generate car loans for more than 500 financial institutions.
"We are excited about the opportunity to leverage our capabilities by joining forces with DealerTrack," said Robert Navarre, former chairman of the board of Chrome Systems. "By making Chrome part of that platform -- along with DealerTrack's resources in sales and product development -- we believe our customers and employees will realize incremental benefits."
David Mingle will continue as president of Chrome Systems. About DealerTrack
