Aston Martins and Bentleys Shine at the 49th Annual Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance
HILLSBOROUGH, Calif.--May 1, 20050, 2005--The Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance announced a world class set of cars as winners at the 49th annual event, held on May 1, 2005. A crowd of over 6,000 attended the show under sunny skies. The featured marques of Aston Martin and Bentley showed their class and elegance on the ramp, expertly described by of the Voice of the Hillsborough Concours, John Joss.There were twelve overall awards presented including the following winners:
-- The Best in Show: an impressive 1931 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Sedanca deVille
-- The People's Choice Award, representing the vote of the audience, was a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, clearly a crowd favorite
-- The Chairman's award was given to a very unique 1906 Model H Seven Passenger Touring Locomobile.
There were 25 judged classes including two Bentley, three Aston Martin, and one Arcane class, won by a 1952 Austin A40 Sports Two Door Convertible.
The Bentley winners were truly unique automobiles:
-- Pre-war: 1934 Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Three Position Drophead Coupe
-- Post-war: 1956 Bentley S1 Continental Drophead
Aston Martin was represented by an impressive class including:
-- Through 1960: 1958 Aston Martin DB Mark III Drophead Coupe
-- DB4 Variants: 1963 Aston Martin DB4 Convertible
-- DB5 and DB6: 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Coupe
