Ford Says Second Quarter Outlook Rosier

DETROIT, May 10, 2005; Reuters reported that Ford Motor Co. said it now expects its second-quarter earnings to range from breakeven to 15 cents a share because of a tax refund.

Ford said previously second-quarter earnings would range from a loss of 15 cents per share to breakeven.

"We are getting a tax refund sooner than we thought," Ford spokesman Glenn Ray said. "We expected it in the fourth quarter. It will occur now in the second quarter."

Ford said its full-year outlook of $1.25 to $1.50 earnings per share remains unchanged.
